Selflove quoteLet's start with the definition of Self-Love, as we see it. This is our definition: Self-Love is to accept myself, to forgive myself, to love who I am, the way I am, under all circumstances, always.

Repeat this definition out loud a couple of times, let it sink in and feel how it is for you.

Do you accept yourself under all circumstances, always? Do you forgive yourself under all circumstances, always? And do you love yourself the way you are and the way you express yourself, under all circumstances, always?

Self-Love mirrors back to you who you are, here and now. Who do you see if you look in the mirror? Do you see your beauty? Or do you only see your mistakes? Do you see the real you? The real you, with your beauty and your mistakes. The real you, grateful for your upbringing and grateful for who you are now. The real you, every day a better person.

Your Self-Love mirrors your level of Inner Safety. Do you feel inwardly safe when you look in the mirror? Do you feel comfortable to look at yourself? Or do you feel inwardly unsafe? Do you hear the criticism from your father or mother the minute you see yourself in the mirror?

In our point of view your Self-Love is always, yes always, connected with your Inner Safety. The moment you feel inwardly safe you love yourself. And the moment you don't feel inwardly safe you don't love yourself. Self-Love and Inner Safety are intertwined. That's why we always say: Self-Love is measured by the level of inner safety, you experience.

Self-Love is established through the entrance of your physiology.
Self-Love doesn't come from the mind. The minute you don't love yourself you feel it in your body. You feel blocked, you feel fear, you feel pain, etc. These body sensations don't go away with a positive affirmation, these negative body sensations only go away by releasing them from your body.

This is why we explicitly use the entrance of the physiology to gain more Self-Love. The result of this is that you not only gain Self-Love, you also gain Inner Safety and Inner Freedom. We see it all the time with our clients, it really works. And the more we see it, the more we know that this kind of Self-Love is the key to more love and more success.

01. Set an intention every day

selflove-inner callingSelf-Love does not come by itself. When you remind yourself why you want to increase your Self-Love and you notice the impact of your Self-Love increasing, you will start to long for it. And all of a sudden you can't even imagine your life, without Self-Love.

Remind yourself every day why you want to increase your Self-Love and what you need to do for it. Set an intention and daily remind yourself of your intention.

02. Start with 5 minutes a day

We designed a Self-Love DNA in such a way that you only need 5 minutes a day to start to increase your Self-Love on a deeper, subconscious, level. In order to achieve this, the Self-Love DNA is filled with powerful commands to awaken your Inner Leadership.

This Self-Love DNA is a set of 9 Mantras we combine with Meridian Tapping, Emotional Freedom Technique or in short EFT. When you daily tap on these 9 Mantras you already start to feel more Self-Love within 14 days.

03. To increase Self-Love is not only a mindset transformation

changeThis is one of our big lessons. People often talk about Self-Love as if it's a mindset transformation that can only be accomplished with affirmations. Of course affirmations will help you, we also work with them but they will never bring you complete Self-Love on a deeper, subconscious level.

In order to increase your Self-Love on a deeper level you need to connect with your physiology to access your subconsciousness. It's through your body sensations that you access your true feelings. On your subconscious level you can access your feelings of inner unsafety. And your inner unsafety is a direct mirror of what you are lacking, what your needs are and what's not working in your life. Your inner unsafety and your limiting beliefs are connected. That's why affirmations alone will not work for you, in order to make them really work you will have to transform your inner unsafety. And by transforming your inner unsafety you transform your limiting beliefs.

04. Self-Love is work in progress

“When I did a personal development program for the first time I thought and hoped that I was fixed after finishing the program. As you can image, that was not true. Actually it only just started there”.

SELFLOVE IS WORK IN PROGRESSAfter so many years of personal development I know now that life is a journey and that's why Self-Love is work in progress. You are never finished. Every minute of the day your mood can change. And during your life, you will go through different phases which are new and which will give you new feelings that you have to explore.

When your mood changes and when you go through different phases of life you will meet new and different aspects of your Self-Love. Where you did not love yourself before, you will love yourself now. Where you did love yourself before, you don't love yourself anymore. And where you didn't love yourself before you feel the urge to stop this and to start the inner journey towards Self-Love.

05. Choose a fixed moment for your daily exercise

Choose a fixed moment, certainly in the beginning. As we said ‘Self-Love will not come by itself' and this is why you can forget to work on it very easily.

By choosing a fixed moment your Self-Love exercise becomes a daily habit, like brushing your teeth or having breakfast.

06. Choose a fixed spot for your daily exercise

meditation-spotBesides choosing a fixed moment we also recommend that you have a fixed space to do your Self-Love exercise. Why? From experience we know it helps you to have your own special spot where you do your inner work.

The moment you are at this spot your brain gets a signal that you will do your inner work. This signal helps you to immediately slip into the right mindset and the right feeling and that's why we call a fixed spot and a fixed moment your helpful coworkers.

07. Make notes in your Self-Love journal

self-love-journalingYour inner journey to Self-Love can be a roller coaster. That's why we advise you to daily write about your inner journey with Self-love. Write down in flow what you experience. Describe it without judgment, it is what it is.

If you want to know how your journey is going then read it. But not every day. Read it when you are no longer attached to that particular phase and read it with the intention of learning about yourself and the inner journey you are making.

08. Ground yourself before your Self-Love practice

GROUNDING.To be grounded before you do a Self-Love exercise is very important. Why?

To ground yourself is not only to connect with the earth but it's to connect with your body, to connect with your breath and to connect with your Inner Peace. By doing this you will prepare yourself to open up your subconscious mind to change and to receiving.

 

09. Make connection with your Inner Wisdom, Inner Truth, Inner Knowing and your intuition

grounding-briantAnother great advantage of grounding yourself and connecting with your Inner Peace is that if you take your time and do it the right way you will eventually also be able to connect with your Inner Wisdom, your Inner Truth, your Inner Knowing and your Intuition.

10. Use EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique or Meridian Tapping as a tool 

EFT [short for Emotional Freedom Technique] is a very easy to use self-help tool. EFT gives you direct access to your subconscious mind. The minute you use EFT you accept responsibility for your own wellbeing. That in itself can be a huge shift already.

We combine our Self-Love DNA with EFT. By daily tapping on the Self-Love DNA with EFT, you actively make new neurological pathways in your brain. That's why we say when you daily use the Self-Love DNA together with EFT you increase your Self-Love on a deeper, subconscious level.

11. Important: You don't see results every day

The moment you tap 5 minutes a day you build on the previous day and you lay a foundation for the next day. From our own experience and from the experience of our clients we can tell you that results are on their way. The only thing you have to do is to daily keep on tapping on the Self-Love DNA.

12. Be real about yourself and your life

selflove.innersafetyWhy is it important to be real when you want to increase your Self-Love? Because the opposite of being real is being in denial. Denial is one of the greatest saboteurs when it comes to loving yourself more. Being in denial gives you the feeling of being inwardly unsafe. And where there is inner unsafety, Self-Love will not grow.

‘I choose to be real about myself and my life' is the first mantra of our Self-Love DNA. To daily tap on this mantra, will at first bring you into contact with everything that isn't working in your life. After a while you will notice that you start to make the transition from inner unsafety to inner safety.

13. Change what is not working in your life

courage.Do you have the courage to change what is not working in your life? ‘I choose to change what is not working in my life' is the second mantra of our Self-Love DNA. This 2nd mantra builds on the 1st mantra of the DNA; ‘I choose to be real about myself and my life'. Working with that first mantra will bring you in contact with everything that is not working in your life.

This 2nd mantra, ‘I choose to change what is not working in my life' gives you the support and the urge you need to create the life you love. To daily tap on this mantra, initiates positive action and change. After a while you will notice that you start to make the transition from denial to action.

14. Do the inner work that is needed to gain more Self-Love

The only way OUT is INEvery change you make on the outside starts with a change on the inside. In order to create lasting inner change you will have to access your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind is a big memory bank where your beliefs, memories and life experiences are stored. This stored information always affects your behavior and actions in the here and now.

So, the fastest way to create lasting inner change is by accessing your subconscious mind. In our Self-Love DNA we work with EFT which gives you direct access to your subconscious mind. After a while you will notice that you start to make the transition from feeling Inner Limitation to feeling Inner Freedom.

15. Daily do the inner work

Very few people ask themselves this very basic question and evaluate while making their inner journey towards Self-Love on a deeper level. There is no room for self-doubt in this question. The YES you feel in this mantra gives you a boost and lays the foundation to keep going. That's why the minute you ask yourself this question you reinforce your commitment towards yourself and your Self-Love.

To daily tap on the 5th mantra of our Self-Love DNA ‘I am committed to myself and my Self-Love', initiates inner certainty. After a while you will notice that you start to make the transition from I don't matter to I do matter.

17. Do the actions that are needed to gain more Self-Love

quote-without action no transformationWe always say, ‘without action no transformation'! Action is the best antidote to being down and lethargic. Action is also walking your talk. Only talking and reading about Self-Love without actively doing the inner work to gain Self-Love, will get you nowhere fast.

Being in action is about actively showing up in your own life. You actively choosing Self-Love over Self-Denial and even Self-Hatred. To daily tap on the 6th mantra of the Self-Love DNA ‘I choose to be in action to gain more Self-Love every day', initiates active participation in your own life.  After a while you will notice that you start to make the transition from ‘shutting up' to being a stand for yourself.

18. Live the life you love

The longer you work with the Self-Love DNA and the bigger your Self-Love grows, the more you will choose, create and attract circumstances in your life that are enjoyable, supporting and beneficial. By daily working with this mantra you remind yourself over and over again that you choose to live the life you love, even if it's not true right now.

To daily tap on this mantra, initiates actively choosing, attracting and designing your own life. After a while you will notice that you start to make the transition from living by default to living by design.

19. Allow yourself to learn, to fail and to start anew each day

There is a huge learning aspect in allowing yourself to fail in the moment and to instantly reset yourself and to start anew again. And to not feel guilty or ashamed about you failing.

This 8th mantra of the Self-Love DNA ‘I am allowed to learn, to fail and to start anew each day', also shows you the possibility that you can start with a clean slate every minute. To daily tap on this mantra, initiates self-esteem. After a while you will notice that you start to make the transition from ‘I am not ok because I fail' to ‘I am ok because I am learning'.

20. Be grateful for your lessons, your disappointments and your victories

Be grateful for ALL your victories because they invite you to be present in the here and now. And be grateful for your lessons because they invite you to see everything you do and don't do as part of your life-journey.

To daily tap on the 8th mantra of our Self-Love DNA ‘I am grateful for my lessons, my disappointments and my victories', initiates being grateful. After a while you will notice that you start to make the transition from blaming life to embracing life.

21. Finish your tapping with a moment of silence

A lot of people skip this step in the process. It's so powerful to feel your energy after tapping. How was it for you this time? How does your energy flow?

In this moment of silence you not only feel your energy, it is also a moment to get insights. A moment of becoming aware of yourself in the here and now. This is how you get much more out of the tapping and this is how it motivates you to do it again.

22. The power of the mantra ‘I choose'

quote- ichooseThe mantra ‘I choose' is a very powerful command to your subconscious mind. ‘I choose' gives you power, it stimulates you to take leadership over your own life.

In our Self-Love DNA there are 7 mantra's with ‘I choose'. The minute you tap on them it stimulates you 1) to actively see and to admit what is not real, what is not working and 2) it stimulates you to shift into action mode.

23. Whatever happens during the tapping: it's okay

It brings in the open what you should start to do and what you have been avoiding for a long time. It brings in the open your resistance, your fear, your inner unsafety, etc… And of course, it brings the good stuff into the open. It empowers your gratefulness, your happiness, your self-esteem, your sense of inner safety, your willingness to get into action, etc…

The lesson in tapping on the reality of your own life and your Self-Love is that all is well. It mirrors where you stand right now. Nothing else. Don't judge yourself, take it as a moment, a lesson and learn from it.

24. Start with 1 of the 4 main portals of Self-Love

When you start your individual journey towards more Self-Love, you typically always start by entering through one of these 4 main portals. Which one you choose is a very personal choice and it will greatly depend on your specific situation. It will always be based on a feeling of need or want or on a feeling of lack or dissatisfaction.
[Physical] When you don't feel fit enough or you are overweight you will probably go to a gym and start a diet.
[Emotional] When you are emotionally stuck, feeling depressed and miserable and medication doesn't change your condition, you might decide to go see a therapist.
[Spiritual] When you feel stressed out all the time you might decide to take up yoga and start a meditation or mindfulness course.
[Mental] When you suffer from having little self-esteem you might want to start with positive affirmations and daily mantra's to boost your confidence.

So from the examples mentioned here, you notice that you can start your journey towards Self-Love at any moment and ‘enter through any portal'. 25. Self-Love loves to be connected to a BIG WHY/Life Purpose

What we discovered in our own life is that our Life Purpose needs us to Love ourself deeply. Our Life purpose needs all our attention and our energy. Our Life Purpose needs our 100% undivided loyalty to ourself and to it.

life purpose-selfloveWhen you don't know your Life Purpose and you are looking and hoping for it, your quickest way is to start to Love yourself. Because Self-Love requires all the exact same conditions as allowing your Life Purpose to find you and to manifest itself within you and within your life.
❥ Self-Love invites you to connect with what you are deeply passionate about.
❥ Self-Love invites you to always be in positive action.
❥ Self-Love invites you to have a ‘I feel the fear and do it anyway attitude'.
❥ Self-Love invites you to express your love for life, for humans, animals, art, research or innovations.
❥ Self-Love invites you to be curious and creative.

So one thing is for sure you loving yourself unconditionally and you living your life purpose are connected. And we go one step further, we say that you living your life purpose can't happen without you loving yourself.

26. Self-Love is a crystal clear choice for Self

We all want Self-Love but what does it mean, to make a crystal clear choice? Isn't it enough when you say ‘I want Self-Love'? Yes and No. YES, the minute you say ‘I open myself for Self-Love', Self-Love will open up to you. And NO, that in itself is not enough. Self-Love is not a choice for just one day. Self-Love is a choice for an inner journey where you will be challenged every minute of the day.

selflove testSelf-Love will test you, ‘do you really want me enough'? And that is why you have to make a crystal clear choice to open up to Self-Love. This crystal clear choice means that
❥ you are 100% loyal to yourself
❥ you do what is needed, no matter the consequences
❥ you heal that what prevents you to feel and have Self-Love
❥ you feel fear and you do it anyway

If you want to grow your Self-Love, you need to be prepared to meet these conditions.

27. Self-Love needs inner leadership

The more we started to Love ourselves the more we begun to see that the moment we are not Loving ourselves is when we are stuck in our bound child position. We are stuck in old emotions and old cell memories. And the only way to get our selves unstuck is to bring our selves to our adult position. To do that takes Inner Leadership.

inner leadershipWe need to take ourselves by the hand; we need to take our Inner Child by the hand as an adult. At first that wasn't easy, in fact that was the hardest part, but as we progressed on our Inner Journey we got better at it.
Now we deliberately step out of our own drama, our negative self-talk and our bullshit and we inspire and challenge one another by not accepting drama and bullshit from each other.

We found out that saying words like ‘I CHOOSE' and ‘I AM', act as commands to invoke our Inner Leadership.
❥ Can you imagine how it will be for you when you step out of your drama and your bound child position?
❥ Can you imagine how it will be for you when you step into your own adult position and into your Inner Leadership?

28. Self-Love is a vibration

Energy-Vibration-Chart-DawkinsEvery feeling, every emotion has an equivalent hertz vibration. The chart in the image gives you a clear overview. The higher your vibration is, the better you will feel. The higher your vibration is the more you will love yourself.

Self-Love encompasses the following vibrations; peace, joy/happiness, love, freedom, forgiveness, acceptance. But loving yourself, accepting yourself and being at ease and at peace with yourself is not a status quo. Self-Love is a living state of being. Shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, desire, anger, pride etc. are all emotions that have a lower vibration. These emotions prevent you to love yourself and even keep you from loving yourself.

29. Self-Love is an inner journey

selflove-ongoing journeyOnce you set off on the path of Self-Love you will discover that it's an Inner Journey. And the beauty of that journey is that it's about the journey itself, not about the destination.

You will find it to be a challenging journey at first but the longer you travel the better you will get at it. Soon you experience that it's an ongoing journey full of learning, adventures, joy, inspiration, happiness, new discoveries, and new possibilities. If you don't want to end up regretting the fact that you didn't live the life you love when you die, you have to act now! 

30. Create a daily gratefulness ritual 

gratefulness-selflovePracticing gratefulness is THE #1 exercise to live the life you love. To learn to be grateful for the good and the bad, for the big things and the little things is almost an art-form. Earlier In this blog we already mentioned the importance of being grateful for your lessons, your disappointments and your victories.

We daily tap on it in our our Self-Love DNA and we have a ritual before we go to bed. We ask each other what we are grateful for. And we have to mention at least 3 things that we are grateful for. It is so magical to look back on your day and see what you are grateful for. Perhaps you were not grateful for it at first, but now that you look back again on your day, you can be grateful for it after all. Try it!

31. You're ready when you are ready

Did you read all the tips above? And what did resonate when you read them? Did you feel ‘I want to work with these tips'? Or did you feel ‘This is too much, this is not true, etc'? We know from our own experience that we haven't always been ready to do the inner and outer work. And if you aren't ready, you have all kind of excuses: The teacher is not good or professional enough. He/she is not doing it right. This is not for me, I already have enough Self-Love, etc…

And when you are really ready even wild horses couldn't drag you away. You feel an inner calling to do the inner and outer work. That's when it feels very natural for you to do the work. It's natural because you are ready. And because of your readiness, change WILL come.

We see Self-Love as a life-time journey, that's why we created the Self-Love DNA for you. And ever since we created it at the end of December 2018, we tap on the Self-Love DNA every day. And because of that we achieve amazing and huge results! This is what we see.

  1. I choose to be REAL about myself and my life. To be real means to us that we don't cover up what isn't working in our life, we face the reality of what works and what doesn't work. We are true to our essence. We hold each other and ourselves accountable for being real.
  2. I choose to CHANGE what is not working in my life. We choose to evaluate our life, we look at what is working and what isn't working, without judgment. We treat it like a business because in that way we can admit to ourselves what is working and what isn't working more easily.
  3. I choose to do the INNER WORK that is needed to gain more Self-Love. We know that Self-Love doesn't come overnight. We know that Self-Love is a muscle that we have to train. And we know that one of the things we have to do to gain more Self-Love is to heal our unhealed emotions. Because we know this, we choose to do this.
  4. I choose to do this Inner Work DAILY. Do you know the difference between doing fitness once a week for 7 hours or doing fitness 7 times a week for one hour? It's proven that you become more fit and healthy when doing fitness during 7 times a week for 1 hour. And that's exactly why we choose to daily do the Inner Work to gain more Self-Love.
  5. I am COMMITTED to myself and my Self-Love. Oh yes, we are committed to ‘this project'. Why? Because we know it feels damn good when we do what is needed to gain more Self-Love. And because of the rewards, we don't stop.
  6. I choose to be in ACTION to gain more Self-Love every day. Without action, no transformation. And without transformation, no Self-Love. We know this from experience, so to be in action is no problem at all.
  7. I choose to live the LIFE I Love. Who doesn't want ‘to live the life you love'? This is maybe the most challenging statement. We have a clear vision of how the life we love looks like and by doing the inner work that is needed we pull this life into our existence. Every day a bit more.
  8. I am allowed to learn, to fail and to start anew each day. This statement gives us permission to learn, to fail and to start anew each moment. It's okay that we aren't perfect, that we aren't always successful, that we aren't always active, etc. It really allows us to feel what we really need right now!
  9. I am grateful for my lessons, my disappointments, and my victories. To be grateful for our lessons and our victories is do-able but to be grateful for our disappointments is a challenge. And when we succeed to be grateful for our disappointments it brings us the most.
